4 Reasons You’re Not Sleeping Through The Night

If you’re not sleeping through the night, the reason could be a few different things. Consider the following four points, and see if you can find the solution!
An uncomfortable bed
Do you have crackly sheets, lumpy mattresses or non-existent pillows? There are lots of ways your bedding could be letting you down.
First up, look at the main part; the mattress. You should replace yours every ten years roughly. Replace it soon if it gets lumps, bumps and loose springs. One way to save time and effort on finding a new mattress is to order it online. Places like www.thebedroomstore.com/mattresses/latex-foam-mattresses.html allow you to do this.
Next up, look at your bedding. Could you do with softer sheets? Do you need to combat any nasty smells? And how about your pillow? A bad pillow can leave your neck super sore, and can wake you up during the night. A good quality feather pillow, or one made of memory foam, could offer a quick and affordable solution.

Noise disturbances

How much noise you are disturbed by during the night is sometimes a result of where in the house the bedroom is. Chances are, if you have kids, you are in the front bedroom. However, the front bedroom of the house is usually the one closest to any roads, passing pedestrians and visitors. This sounds can travel upwards and across and into your room, disturbing you during the night.
Double or triple-glazed windows might be the solution. Thicker windows block out more sounds, meaning there is less chance of it reaching you. A cheaper solution would be the use of earplugs. Go with wax ones over foam ones, so that they mould to the exact shape of your ear canal.

Too much salt before bedtime

Salt is a top cause of not getting to sleep, and then not staying asleep. If our body becomes unhappy during the night, it will often wake us up to tell us! Retaining water is a key side effect of eating salty foods. As a result, you can be too uncomfortable to fall asleep in the first place. Then, once you are asleep, you are still at risk of having a disturbed night. If you want to eat salty food, eat them at lunchtime instead. Read articles like this www.livestrong.com/article/344900-foods-to-avoid-eating-before-bedtime/ to get more informed.

Stress

Most adults have woken up in the middle of the night before for seemingly no other reason that to have a good worry! Worrying, in small doses, won’t do you much harm. In fact, it can be great to keep us motivated and focused. It can also help us see which areas of our lives we are neglecting, and need to take more care of. However, once worry crosses over the line into stress, it could be time to get help. Life is too short to be struggling with such issues alone. Consider seeing a Doctor if you think your mental health is suffering. Or, you could start yourself off by seeing a counsellor on a weekly basis instead. Sometimes just having an impartial, supportive person to talk things through with can help.

The 4 Best TV Shows That Are Set In The Past

There are so many TV shows to watch these days. It can be hard to know what to plonk yourself in front of at the end of the night. Personally, I’m sick of all these modern spy dramas and thrillers, they all feel like carbon copies of each other. I want to watch something fresh and exciting.

That’s why I prefer historical TV shows, and ones not set in the modern day. They let me watch an adventure that I could never experience myself, because it’s so far back in time! No modern technology, no gadgets. It’s easy to get hooked, and it’s a world I want more of because it’s unfamiliar. Here are a few of the best.

Mad Men

Set in 1960s New York, Mad Men is about Don Draper, an ad executive and mysterious employee of a renowned ad agency. It ended last May after a 7 season run, and boy was it enjoyable. It gave you a taste of that luxury 60s lifestyle, and because it was set overseas, it allowed us to take a look at how things worked elsewhere.

It was so popular that there are rumors of a Mad Men film being made. I don’t know how they’d do it given the ending of the show, but I’d be queuing up opening night!

Outlander

Everyone loves time travel! Especially when it takes you to some magical places. That’s exactly what Outlander is, starring a nurse named Claire in 1945 who gets transported back to Scotland, 1743.

At first, it might seem a little cheesy, but that’s because every other show like this is cheesy. Outlander is different. It’s well acted, and looks convincing. And with Outlander season 2 set to air in April of this year, there’s never been a better time to catch up!

Peaky Blinders

Peaky Blinders is great because the acting talent is top notch. Cillian Murphy, Tom Hardy and Sam Neill all starred in the 2 seasons, with a third to come. In fact the Peaky Blinders Twitter account still posts tweets to this day!

It’s about the Peaky Blinders gang in Birmingham in the late 19th century, and it’s fascinating to watch. It really makes you appreciate your nice warm house and mug of hot chocolate a lot more!

Boardwalk Empire

With 57 Emmy nominations, you know Boardwalk Empire will deliver. It finished in 2014, but it’s one you should catch up on. There are 5 seasons, and the visual style is incredible. It’s set in New Jersey and stars Steve Buscemi as a politician who frequently dabbles with gangsters.

It’s tense, and it’s better than most movies. That’s probably because it had a huge budget and filmmakers making it, but still! Well worth a watch.

So there you have it. Take a trip back in time (some further than others!) and have an enjoyable night in front of the telly! Let me know if you’ve watched any of these in the comments! And if you have any other recommendations, I’m all ears!

Few minutes ago, I bumped into this message once again. Gladly, I tried to refresh the homepage twice and viola I was able to login.

On the other hand, I mentioned in my previous post that I will be sharing reviews of my new haul. Few weeks ago, I was lucky to get a chance to buy discounted Maybeline product. I do have any plan of buying a new shade of lipstick but I could not stop myself from getting one. For now, I will be sharing a photo of my recent haul. I will be posting my review in my next post.
